Kitten Chaos at Stafsund

It has been an exciting weekend filled with kittens, cat fights, and socialization experiments. Yesterday you got to meet the new kittens at Stafsund. The little black cat ventured into the house early this morning, and then the dark gray kitten became the brave one for the day. Dark gray kitten had their first taste of wet food, and well, gosh, he/she liked it (at this time I have no idea of their sex). I was able to spoon feed her and she was quite close to my feet, generally without too much fear.

The gray and white kitten visited this afternoon and greedily ate some wet food. Chica (mama) was insistent and impatient begging for food; she seems to be starving all the time. She has come into the house and stolen pizza crusts, not to mention all the shrimp she got this weekend (as well as her regular food) and still she is hungry! But she wants her babies to start eating elsewhere, I can tell. She immediately gives up her portion if the kittens arrive on scene.

Which is why I was surprised to find out that the kits are still nursing. All I know is that Chica is VERY happy that I am taking over some of the responsibility. We just have to work on black kitten and the very shy light gray kitten…

Meanwhile, in the house, the two big boys, who are constantly fighting for territory, are sleeping peacefully side by side.
